It is an absolute honour and privilege to be Principal at St Gabriel’s Parish Primary School.
St Gabriel’s is a small school in which there is a true sense of shared responsibility and a strong partnership between the school and families. We have a dedicated and committed group of staff who work tirelessly to ensure each child reaches their full potential. As a father of three children, this has always been my hope for them as well. To ensure that they have developed the knowledge and skills to enable them to successfully engage to the best of their ability in the contemporary world.
I have been working in Catholic education for over 20 years and have experienced schools in both the northern and western zones of Melbourne. My greatest desire is to ensure that all of our students flourish as learners and that we at St Gabriel’s deliver a high quality and engaging curriculum.
Even though l have just clocked up 30 years in education, l still love it! I have taught in many different schools, interstate and overseas and what is a constant is that kids are kids!
Every single child wants to be loved, respected, wants to learn and feel that they have someone else they are strongly connected to.
I really believe that St Gabriel’s is a community where faith, life and education underpin what we do and who we are.

I have enjoyed becoming a member of such a friendly and inviting school community such as St Gabriel’s. I have had the pleasure of being a prep teacher for a number of years now and I absolutely love teaching prep because it is so rewarding to witness children’s joy and enthusiasm for learning.
I am loving being part of this wonderful school. I have been a Junior school teacher for the past three years and have also worked with the Seniors for many years. I love teaching, it truly is rewarding. I enjoy building relationships with the children and seeing their love of learning grow.
I started at St Gabriel’s as a graduate and have loved becoming part of a diverse and friendly school community. Whilst at St. Gabriel’s I have been teaching in the Junior School. It has been such a rewarding experience working with the children to develop their love of learning, whilst also building positive relationships with each of them.
Having come from 12 years in a corporate IT role with insight into our digital future, I retrained as a teacher hoping to ignite a passion, enthusiasm and responsibility for technology within my students.
Working at St. Gabriel’s as a Digital Technology specialist teacher sees me constantly learning and looking for new and exciting ways to deliver the curriculum. I am energised by the kids and teaching them to use technology to create, rather than consume.
I began my career teaching Physical Education in Drouin, and then spent the last 6 years as a classroom teacher at a school in Springvale. I enjoyed my time at my previous schools but was very excited to make a change and come to a school that provides such exciting new opportunities for me to further develop my teaching. I have enjoyed working closely with students on their personal learning goals and have loved getting to know the wider school community.
I volunteered over many years ago at St Gabriel’s and recently returned with the honour of being offered employment as an LSO. Although there have been many changes what remains is the school still holds great community spirit and values. It’s such a blessing and so fulfilling working with these amazingly talented children. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing their beautiful smiling faces and helping them on their learning journey.
I have enjoyed getting to know the wonderful families and staff of St. Gabriel’s. It has been an enriching and exciting experience supporting the learning and exploring that these students undertake.
I enjoy spending my days working with the middle and senior students. Sometimes all a child needs is some extra help and patience and I am honoured to provide these students with the support and encouragement they need to learn and grow with the rest of the class.
After completing the Masters in Teaching at Melbourne University in 2012, I began my teaching career in Catholic Education. My love of teaching has grown stronger each year and I believe that the key to happy learners is having positive relationships with students and families.
I keep myself up to date with new educational technologies in order to ensure that my students are engaged in rich learning experiences. I am passionate about teaching children about how to live sustainably in our world.
I started at St Gabriel’s in 2005 and have had the opportunity to be a classroom teacher at nearly every level during my time here. I am currently teaching Physical Education every Tuesday. I love the opportunity of teaching sport to all classes from Seniors down to Foundation.
The students love sport because it is enjoyable and they have the opportunity to move around and improve their outdoor skills. Sport is all about participating, challenging yourself, socialising and displaying team work with others.
As an educator, I enjoy being part of the inclusive, committed and enthusiastic teaching team. I have over 35 years of teaching experience. My earliest years of teaching were in rural based government schools. Then I moved to Melbourne to teach in Independent Schools and have recently transitioned into the Catholic Education system.
My life long focus has always been on improving children’s literacy which led to my postgraduate studies focusing on teaching children with learning difficulties. I am delighted to see my students develop their academic, social and spiritual wellbeing.
Over the past 17 years, I have undertaken many roles at different schools including a Classroom teacher, Number Intervention teacher, Visual Arts and Sports teacher and continue the role of Additional Needs teacher, Classroom Program Support teacher and a Language teacher.
At St Gabriel’s, where I have been teaching for many many years in different areas, but my greatest passion is teaching the Italian language to all year levels.
I believe that ‘Learning a language allows children to see and experience another world’ and I love providing a number of different opportunities for the children to engage in the Italian language. From using technology, organising italian concerts and offering cultural experiences through cooking, singing and dancing and various art and drama activities.
I provide the children with an opportunity to be part of the state wide ‘Dante Alighieri’ and ‘VATI’ Italian competitions; which we have been fortunate to have great success in winning for many years. I keep myself in the forefront of the language curriculum and I am open to new and creative opportunities for children to participate in.
I love what I do to help every child shine, achieve, be happy, safe and most importantly embrace a love of learning.
I am very grateful to continue to be part of a wonderful school community, where there are enthusiastic children, families and supportive colleagues.
Dai bambini, impariamo l’italiano!!
I have been employed at St Gabriel’s for the past 18 years. At present, my roles are Maintenance Coordinator and Library Technician. I was also fortunate enough to have been given the opportunity over the years at St Gabriel’s to assist in the areas of Learning Support Officer, PMP/Sport, Gardening/Sustainability/Cookin, Administration. Assisting the teaching team at St Gabriel’s has been so rewarding, especially when I see the students reaching their personal best.

In these roles I have taught students from Prep to Year 8 in Melbourne and Sydney. On school camps I have travelled to Canberra, Adelaide, Mansfield, Anglesea, Malmsbury, Bendigo, Melbourne City, Swan Hill, Safety Beach Dromana, Barwon Heads … I’m wishing for a school camp to Paris! But most of all I have met a star studded cast of students and families. I couldn’t imagine my life without them.
Everybody has creative talent! And as an Art and Drama teacher, it’s my role to design dynamic and innovative learning programs that inspire students to discover their creative spirit. When students take risks and experiment, it is a joy to see them progress their thinking and importantly boost self confidence.
I also am passionate about connecting the curriculum to real world experiences that prepare students for the 21st century. Prior to my current role, I was a classroom teacher for three years and have spent nearly a decade in marketing and communications.
I began teaching eight years ago at St Mary’s Primary School in Thornbury, and moved across to St Gabriel’s in 2014. I have loved every minute of my time here and have particularly enjoyed developing positive relationships with the families at the school.

I have worked in the Catholic Education system for 5 years in the Senior school and enjoy Teaching all areas of the curriculum. I’m passionate about providing students with the necessary skills, knowledge and tools that enables them to become lifelong learners.
I believe that by forming strong, positive and trustworthy relationships with all members of the school community enables us to grow as people and become active contributors to society.
